Idema was leading product marketing for all of Facebook’s business products worldwide. Although his exact role is not known, “monetization will be a key focus”, a company spokesperson told ReCode. The Facebook owned messaging app has been providing its service free to all its users worldwide ever since launch.
Last year in January, WhatsApp had announced that it will no longer charge subscription fees for using the service. It also said it will not be introducing third-party ads to compensate. The instant messaging service is used by more than 1.2 billion users monthly.

Why everyone should use a high end microSD card on their smartphones

SanDisk Ultra 128GB microSD_fonearena-01
The constant struggle for space on your smartphone is something that most of our readers would be familiar with. We personally have encountered friends and family having to free up space on their smartphone by deleting apps and content in order to install some app or update their phone or some other reason.
These same people often complain about the lack of speed and the smartphone hanging or apps freezing ever so often. The reason in most cases is to do with smaller capacity and memory cards with slower speeds being used in their phones.
Most people often invest top dollar for their smartphone but then skimp out on spending a tad bit more on a higher quality memory card for their phone. The issues with cheaper and slower cards are many fold.
SanDisk Ultra 128GB microSD_fonearena-03
For starters, a low capacity card would mean that you run out of space quickly and don’t really solve the problem of data storage that your smartphone had in the first place. It is always better to keep some breathing room for your files and apps rather than keeping the exact amount. Due to the ever increasing need for more and more storage for content creation, consumption and much more, it is important to go for higher capacity cards. Having a sufficiently large card would mean that you would no longer have to delete important files and personal photos just to free some space.
SanDisk Ultra 128GB microSD_fonearena-05
Another issue is that these lower cost and generic cards don’t really go through stringent quality tests and as a result, every bit of information that you store on these cards are at risk. There is no guarantee that your files will be stored safely without any corruption or faults. Some cards have problems when they come under the scrutiny of an X-Ray for example while higher quality cards don’t have this issue. So, using these cards would mean that every time you pass through an airport, your data is possibly at risk. However, you can be assured of keeping your data safe no matter what the situation is with Sandisk.
SanDisk Ultra 128GB microSD_fonearena-04
There is also the issue of speed. Many complain that their phone lags despite having great hardware. In most cases, the culprit is often a slow memory card that is filled to the brim. Every time, the user wants to view or copy stuff onto the card, the phone hangs or slows down because of the limitations of the card itself. If the card is slow, you would also have compatibility issues with video recording for example when recording high-resolution videos. Not all cards support Full HD or HD or even burst camera photos.
CapacityMusic Albums*Photos**Videos***

  • *Each Album Comprising of 12 Songs with 3-5 Min Duration
  • **Average Size of 3.5MB and 13 Megapixel Resolution
  • ***4K UHD Video with 3840×2160 Pixels Resolution
This is why it is important to buy a card that has ample storage space, offers high transfer speed as well as passes all the necessary quality and safety tests to make sure that your information is safe, easily accessible and your smartphone isn’t at risk either. SanDisk makes a variety of microSD cards to cater to every individuals needs. They are UHS-1 compliant, come with read speeds of upto 80MB/s and are shockproof, temperature-proof, waterproof, and X-ray-proof.sandisk_256gb_microsdThere is a SanDisk Ultra microSD card to suit everyone’s need thanks to the capacities that are available in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 200GB capacities at a price of Rs. 524, Rs. 749, Rs. 1,601, Rs. 3,195 and Rs. 5,699 respectively.

Opera 43 with instant page loading, Profile Guided Optimization released

opera v 43
Opera has updated its browser by putting more focus on speed. The update that bumps the app to version 43 adds instant page loading, Profile Guided Optimization (PGO).
With instant page loading, Opera browser will predict which website you are typing the address for and begins loading it in the background before you hit enter. Opera says instant page loading becomes smarter over time by learning which URL inputs led to a specific website. For example, if you type a certain website on multiple occasions, it will learn from this and begin loading that in the background. In addition, when you search for something in the address bar, it will load the results likely to be clicked in the background.
Moreover, the latest version of Opera also gets Profile Guided Optimization (PGO) which is a compiler technique able to make software running on Windows significantly faster.  PGO can teach the compiler what usage scenarios are important so Opera can perform those tasks even faster, using less CPU. Opera claims PGO optimizes the most important parts of the browser, and brings some significant speed improvements. With this technology, startup is 13% faster. Finally, Opera 43 adds the classic link selection that allows you to select text in the link without triggering the link.
Krystian Kolondra, Head of Opera for computers said,
Web browsers need to evolve faster in order to keep up with people’s expectations. Last year, we sped up the Opera browser with features like native ad-blocking, page-load speed optimization, and faster start-up. Now, with instant page loading, we are giving it another boost that will squeeze loading time almost to zero.

Safer Internet Day: Here’s everything you need to know about WhatsApp encryption and security

WhatsApp Encryption
With over 1 billion daily users, WhatsApp is easily the most popular instant messaging app at present. The service rolled out full end-to-end encryption for all communications last year so, every call you make, and every message, photo, video, file, and voice message you send, is end-to-end encrypted by default, including group chats. Today (February 7th) more than 120 countries worldwide, including all 28 countries of the European Union are celebrating Safer Internet Day. Let us see what safety measures we can take while using WhatsApp. Here is a detailed look at WhatsApp encryption and some handy security measures to protect your personal chats and conversations.
WhatsApp end-to-end encryption
Last month, a Guardian report claimed that the Facebook owned service has a security backdoor in its end-to-end encryption system. The vulnerability could allow for messages sent via the encrypted platform to be intercepted and read.
WhatsApp shared the following statement with FoneArena on the backdoor issue,
WhatsApp does not give governments a “backdoor” into its systems and would fight any government request to create a backdoor. The design decision referenced in the Guardian story prevents millions of messages from being lost, and WhatsApp offers people security notifications to alert them to potential security risks. WhatsApp published a technical white paper on its encryption design and has been transparent about the government requests it receives, publishing data about those requests in the Facebook Government Requests Report.
What is WhatsApp encryption?
End-to-end encrypted messages are secured with a lock and only the recipient and sender have the special key needed to unlock and read them. For additional protection, every message you send has its own unique lock and key. It must be noted that the feature is in-built and you do not need to turn it on. WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption is developed in collaboration with Open Whisper Systems. You can read the in-depth technical explanation in the white paper here.
Verify Security Codes
Every chat has its own security code to verify whether your conversation is secure to end-to-end encryption. This can be done by scanning a QR code which is present in the contact info-screen or by comparing a 60-digit number. WhatsApp servers do not have access to the private keys of WhatsApp users.
Turn on Security Notifications
Security notifications let you know when a friends’s security code has changed which usually happens when they reinstall WhatsApp or switch phones. You can turn on security notifications by heading to Settings>Account>Security and enable Show security notifications.
Report Spam and Delete suspicious messages
Last month, a hoax message on WhatsApp was claiming that the Prime Minister is offering a free Rs 500 recharge to all Indians. It is advised that if you receive a suspicious message or spam from an unknown number for the first time, you can report it the number to WhatsApp as spam. You can block the sender and delete the message to avoid further trouble.
