Love is in the air for Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone and Idea this Valentine’s Day

Most of the people around the world are celebrating Valentine’s Day and so are the biggest telecoms companies India. Reliance Jio has been engaging in tussle with Airtel and Vodafone for some time now however, the company decided to blend in the Valentine’s Day fervor by wishing its rivals.

Reliance Jio shared Valentine’s wishes to Airtel, Vodafone and Idea today. Soon the telecos replied to the tweet with cheeky responses. Airtel replied to the tweet by using its “Har ek friend zaroori hota hai” catch line.

On the other hand, Vodafone used its favorite ZooZoo characters and made a GIF.

Finally, Idea was sweet and simple with its response.

All these tweets had sarcasm in them but it is good to see that the telcos have taken this in good spirit.

MyAirtel App for Android and iPhone updated with ‘Airtel Apps’ section

Airtel has relaunched a new version of its My Airtel App which comes with a ‘Airtel Apps’ section that will have a collection of top apps under a single interface.
The app is offering Ditto TV with 100+ LIVE TV channels and popular TV shows without any subscription charges. Hike Messenger app, Wynk Music, Wynk Movies, Wynk Games, Juggernaut are some of the apps available within ‘Airtel Apps’.
The list also includes Airtel Cloud and Airtel Dialer apps.  Airtel Cloud provides 2GB of free cloud storage and back up and currently there are no data upload charges for the scheduled overnight backups for prepaid customers and this benefit will be made available to postpaid customer soon. Airtel Dialer offers 50 minutes of free Airtel-to-Airtel calling benefits, in addition to its call management feature. Customers who already have MyAirtel App on their smartphone can update to receive the new features.

Airtel V-Fiber broadband plans

Airtel today launched ‘V-Fiber’ broadband based on Vectorization in Chennai that offers speeds of up to 100 Mbps. Airtel already said that it will be offering ‘V-Fiber’ for all its existing broadband customers at no extra monthly cost and requires only modem change, which costs Rs. 1000. Now it has provided monthly plans that start at Rs. 999 for 50GB FUP limit and goes up to Rs. 4999 for 1TB FUP.
Except the base Rs. 999 plan, all the other plans come with unlimited voice calling (Local + STD) at no extra cost. It is also offering unlimited three months trial offer for new customers.

These plans are only for TN circle (Chennai) and might be different for other cities. Even though Airtel promises speeds of up to 100Mbps, maximum speed might vary depending on the feasibility in your area. Airtel did not reveal what will be the speed after the FUP limit is over.
Airtel V-Fiber is currently live in Chennai, will be available in Delhi & NCR and Bangalore in coming weeks and will be deployed across 87 cities soon. You can head to airtel.in/vfiber to apply for new V-Fiber connection or file a request to upgrade your existing connection.

Nokia and Airtel to expand 4G deployment in three new circles

Nokia has inked a new deal with Airtel to expand 4G deployment in three new circles in addition to six circles it already serves, enabling launch of new services that started in September.
Nokia will deploy its 4G FDD-LTE & TD-LTE technology across nine of Bharti Airtel’s circles in India including the regions of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rest of Bengal, Odisha, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Kerala and UP East, serving major cities such as Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Patna and Siliguri. Nokia will also expand the operator’s 3G network in eight of the territories as part of this rollout and modernization of legacy 2G BTS. The rollout uses Nokia’s radio access with Single RAN technology for FDD-LTE and TD-LTE. The company will provide professional services including network integration and network planning and optimization.
In the 2016 MBiT Index Nokia reported an eightfold increase in India’s 4G LTE device ecosystem for 2015, while other statistics show that access to news, video content, gaming and social media accounts for 60 percent of India’s total mobile data traffic – and it is rising. Bharti Airtel will be able to provide improved coverage and faster mobile Internet access, while laying the foundation for the delivery of enhanced video services and other on-demand applications.
Bharti Airtel said in a statement,
We are pleased to continue to leverage Nokia’s leading radio access technology and services expertise to expand 4G capacity and coverage and further increase the quality of service for subscribers.
Sanjay Malik, head of India Market at Nokia, said,
We have a long history of working with Bharti Airtel and with this latest agreement we have become the largest supplier of 4G for the company. This network expansion will provide the capacity, coverage and speeds the company needs to meet the next wave of data demand in India.

celebrate this it has rolled out Airtel
Surprises offering the users free
additional data and content benefits
within their existing plans.
With free additional data from
‘Airtel Surprises’ customers can get
up to 125GB free data per month for
life at no extra cost. This varies
depending on your plan. For
example, a 4Mbps plan with 175GB
FUP gets 125GB free additional data
making it 300GB, whereas a 40Mbps
connection with 200GB FUP
gets only 50GB free additional data.
